Y3 Curriculum

In year 3, our projects incorporate history, geography and science and are entitled: Around the World; The Power of Coal; Grow it, Cook it, Eat it; Let’s Rock; Living in a Desert; and The First Kingdom. These projects are brought to life for the children through exciting enrichment opportunities, for example a visit to the Yorkshire Coal Mining museum and a trip to Chatsworth House and Gardens.  As well as going on trips, we have experts come in to school to share their expertise with us.

The curriculum at Carterknowle is well sequenced so that children are able to revisit knowledge gained in previous years, and build upon this throughout year 3. We plan lessons to be fun, as well as current and relevant. In year 3, we hope to inspire children and help them to develop a sense of awe and wonder in the world around them. We also focus on citizenship and encourage the children to reflect on their place in the community and help them to become responsible citizens.
